Today I would like to introduce you to the beautifully emotive work of French artist Nicolas Lahoun ( @portra009 ). This image, titled Anaïs, is a silver gelatin print on layered washi paper.
About the artist... "Nicolas Lahoun develops his images on traditional large-format Japanese 'washi' paper, stretched on a stretcher frame or mounted on wood. This paper, with its soft, fluffy surface, absorbs the silver emulsion onto which the image is projected in the darkroom. It is then passed through different tanks of developer, stop bath and fixer, becoming softer and more brittle, and then drying to regain its strength.
The photographer works with the rough edges, tears and impastos of the product, superimposing the papers to recompose the original image."
Please visit Nicholas' IG or his website (www.nicolahoun.com) to see more of his inspiring work.
